French-born star of Congolese descent Christopher Nkunku has signed a contract to become a new Chelsea player with effect from July 2023, according to reports.

Transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano says the deal taking the France international to Chelsea is done and dusted with all documents and contract signed, and only an official confirmation is pending.

The RB Leipzig attacking midfielder cum striker is still under contract with the German Bundesliga side until June 30, 2026.

Nkunku moved from Paris Saint-Germain to RB Leipzig in 2019, and is credited with 115 goal involvements in 159 appearances across all competitions for the Saxony outfit.

The 25-year-old, who injured his knee just before the World Cup and missed the tournament in Qatar, is currently undergoing rehabilitation, and it is unclear whether he will be fit in time for the Bundesliga clash with Bayern Munich on January 20, 2023.

This season, Nkunku has tallied seventeen goals in twenty three appearances while producing four assists.
