Barcelona to rival Chelsea and Liverpool for 'best midfielder at 2022 World Cup'
Published: December 18, 2022
Premier League clubs are reportedly ready to battle La Liga giants Barcelona for the signature of Morocco international Sofyan Amrabat.
French president Emmanuel Macron visited Morocco's dressing room after their defeat to France to tell Amrabat he was the 'best midfielder at the 2022 World Cup'.
Chelsea, Liverpool, West Ham United and Newcastle United are said to be interested in signing the Fiorentina midfielder and he was linked with Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
As reported by Relevo via Calciomercato, Barcelona want to sign the Moroccan as a replacement for Sergio Busquets,
Fiorentina's priority is to exercise the option for the extension of Amrabat's contract as soon as the player returns to Florence after his participation in the World Cup.
He joined Fiorentina in January 2020 and has gone on to make 78 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring one goal.
Dutch-born Amrabat has also worn the colours of Utrecht, Club Brugge, Feyenoord and Hellas Verona in the past.
