Napoli identify nine players as replacement for Chelsea and Man Utd-linked Osimhen
Published: December 28, 2022Napoli have started preparing for life without their most expensive acquisition in history, Victor Osimhen amid speculation linking him with a transfer to the English Premier League next summer.
Manchester United hold concrete interest in the Nigeria national teamer, while Chelsea have him on their radar as a possible replacement for their aging striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is not guaranteed a starting spot having made only four appearances from the off in the English topflight since his move from Barcelona.
It is envisaged that Napoli will let Osimhen leave the Diego Maradona Stadium at the end of the season provided their asking price is met.
Those upstairs at The Parthenopeans have valued the 23-year-old in excess of 100 million euros, a fee only the big clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain would be willing to pay.
Italian transfer market specialist Ciro Venerato revealed on 1 Station Radio, via Sportevai that Napoli are monitoring eight to nine candidates to replace Osimhen in the event the Nigerian departs the club next summer.
The strikers on the radar of Napoli include players with Serie A experience, Gianluca Scamacca and Udinese star Beto.
Osimhen has 38g/12a in 76 all-competition appearances for Napoli and is the leading scorer in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with five goals to his name.
