PSV considering move for Chelsea's brand new signing as replacement for Cody Gakpo
Published: January 01, 2023
Dutch Eredivisie powerhouse PSV Eindhoven are looking to sign a striker in the January transfer window and have turned their attention to Chelsea's brand new recruit David Datro Fofana.
Fofana's Nigerian agent Atta Aneke has refused to rule out the possibility of his client being loaned out this month.
According to Eindhovens Dagblad, via footballtransfers, Fofana is on the shortlist of strikers to replace Cody Gakpo who has moved to Liverpool.
Fofana and Gakpo have similarities in terms of the positions they can play as they can be deployed on the wing and second striker.
Chelsea signed Fofana as part of their Vision 2030 project, so the Blues sending him out on loan to continue his development cannot be entirely ruled out.
The 20-year-old Ivory Coast international earned himself a transfer to Chelsea after starring for Molde last season, helping them win the Norwegian title with 15 goals in 24 matches.
Fofana has European experience, making fifteen appearances combined in the Europa League and Europa Conference League including the qualifiers and found the net five times.
