Three-time Austrian champions interested in signing Arsenal's Super Eagles-eligible GK
Published: January 13, 2023
Three-time Austrian Bundesliga champions SK Sturm Graz are reportedly interested in signing Super Eagles-eligible goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo.
According to Arsenal youth team expert Jeorge Bird, the Hale End Academy graduate is drawing interest from Sturm Graz, with a loan move being mooted.
Okonkwo has to be recalled from his loan spell at League Two club Crewe Alexandra for the proposed loan move to go through.
The agreement between Arsenal and the Railwaymen is supposed to keep the 21-year-old at Gresty Road until the end of the 2022-2023 campaign.
Okonkwo was officially promoted to Arsenal's first team at the start of the 2021-2022 season, shortly after signing a new deal with the club, and was third choice goalkeeper at the Emirates Stadium outfit last term.
He joined Crewe Alexandra on a temporary basis in search of first team football in July 2022.
Statistically, the 6ft 5in shot stopper has proved to be one of the best goalkeepers in League Two, keeping ten clean sheets in 26 all-competition appearances.
Okonkwo has been on the books of Arsenal since the age of eight and has received ten call ups for first team games but has yet to make his senior debut for the Gunners.
