Flying Eagles invitee trains with Arsenal first team ahead of blockbuster clash against Man Utd
Published: January 22, 2023
Flamboyant winger Joel Ideho was once again promoted to Arsenal's first team training on Saturday, January 21, the squad's final workout before their blockbuster Premier League match with Manchester United.
The 19-year-old is one of the foreign-based players officially invited to the Flying Eagles in preparation for the 2023 Africa U20 Cup of Nations but has yet to report for international duty.
According to Gunners youth team expert Jeorge Bird, Ideho trained with the first team at London Colney yesterday, ahead of the visit of Manchester United to the Emirates Stadium.
It remains to be seen whether or not he is named in the matchday squad by Spanish football tactician Mikel Arteta, but he has no commitments with the development squad today.
Arsenal U21s Premier League 2 meeting with Blackburn Rovers, which had been scheduled for Sunday, January 22, has been postponed following a pitch inspection.
Ideho has been sparingly used in the Premier League 2 this season given that he was not in the matchday squad in eight out of a possible thirteen matches and started just two games.
The former Ajax Amsterdam wonderkid has impressed for the Gunners development squad in cup competitions, scoring three goals in the Premier League Cup.
