History-maker Ozoh ready to answer Flying Eagles call; looks up to Chelsea legend Mikel, Moses
Published: January 23, 2023David Ozoh entered into the history books as the youngest player to represent Crystal Palace in the Premier League aged 17 years and 260 days when he came off the bench to replace Odsonne Edouard in the 90th minute of the goalless draw with Newcastle United on Saturday, January 21, 2023.
Following the defensive midfielder's professional debut this past weekend, his international future has been the subject of speculation in these parts.
The Valencia-born starlet is spoilt for choice over the national team to represent internationally given that he is eligible for Nigeria, Spain and England.
Contrary to speculation in the local media, Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro did not hold talks with Ozoh during his recent working visit to England.
Ozoh was directly contacted to clear the air on his international future and was also asked if he would be willing to accept a call-up to the Flying Eagles.
"Yes, I would accept a call-up to Nigeria's U20 national team, but I have not been contacted by a representative from the Nigeria Football Federation," Ozoh told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Admittedly, Ozoh models his game after Crystal Palace boss and Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, he also looks up to Chelsea icon John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses.
"I look up to John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses. Mikel because he was the captain of Nigeria and Moses because he is a product of the Crystal Palace academy," Ozoh added.
Ozoh's Crystal Palace teammates striker Ademola Ola-Adebomi and goalkeeper Owen Goodman have been invited to a Flying Eagles training camp ahead of the 2023 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
