'A bit like Haaland' - Brazil and Napoli icon Careca likens Osimhen to Man City goal poacher
Published: January 24, 2023Brazil and Napoli icon Careca has outlined the similarities between Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and Victor Osimhen.
Signed from Borussia Dortmund last summer, the Norway international has made scoring goals look easy since switching to the Premier League, notching 25 goals in nineteen matches played.
Despite his body build, Haaland is incredibly agile and very quick, just like the Napoli number 9, and they both offer physicality plus have built up a reputation for their aerial ability.
Given his attributes, it's no surprise that Osimhen is on the radar of top clubs in the physically demanding Premier League, with the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle United among his suitors.
Speaking to Italian newspaper Il Mattino, via Napolipiu, Careca said : "Osimhen has unique characteristics. A bit like Haaland, the City ace, who looks heavy but instead has extraordinary agility.
"Osimhen is doing great things after overcoming many physical problems and hasn't yet shown his best: the margins for improvement are considerable.
"Meanwhile, his regularity is striking: he always scores. He has incredible willpower and then it's as if the ball was looking for him and not vice versa.
"He positions himself very well, he is always in the heart of the action."
Osimhen has mustered fourteen goals in nineteen games across all competitions this season, seventeen goals less than Haaland who has played seven more matches than the Nigerian.
