English-born Nigerian central defender Oludare Olufunwa finally played his first game for Liverpool in the Premier League 2 on Saturday as the Reds secured a 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Aggborough.
Olufunwa ended an eleven-year association with boyhood club Southampton last summer and joined the Anfield club following a successful trial.
The 21-year-old has not played much since his move to Liverpool due to injury, which is now a thing of the past.
Having made the bench for five matches in the Premier League 2 without tasting action, he was included in the starting lineup against Wolverhampton Wanderers and put in a a solid shift to help Liverpool keep their first clean sheet in five matches in the division.
Olufunwa's other appearances for Liverpool's development squad were in the Papa Johns Trophy and Premier League International Cup.
He scored his first goal in Liverpool's colours in a 4-2 rout of Paris Saint-Germain on January 11 despite being played out of position as a right back,
Liverpool claimed all three points against Wolverhampton Wanderers courtesy of Oakley Cannonier's game-winner in the 84th minute after coming off the bench.
