Confirmed : Talented midfielder of African descent signs new contract with Man Utd
Published: February 09, 2023With a statement on their official website, Premier League giants Manchester United have announced that talented midfielder of African descent Kobbie Mainoo has committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term contract.
Manchester United have not disclosed the length of contract signed by the Ghana-eligible youngster .
FIFA's regulations on the status and transfer of players state that players under the age of eighteen cannot sign a professional contract for a term longer than three years.
Mainoo has seen his stock rise this season, having received ten call-ups for first team games, including six in the Premier League.
The 17-year-old made his senior debut against Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup on January 10 and eighteen days later, came off the bench for his FA Cup debut in a 3-1 win versus Reading.
The Stockport native has figured for Manchester United youth teams in the Papa Johns Trophy, Premier League 2, Premier League International Cup and U18 Premier League this term.
Mainoo, who began the season as a second year scholar, has been on the books of Manchester United since the age of nine.
