Official : Derby County sign Irish-Nigerian center forward for U21 team
Published: February 14, 2023
Derby County have confirmed the signing of Owen Oseni from League of Ireland First Division club Waterford.
The length and financial terms of the deal were not disclosed by the EFL League One club.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can confirm that Oseni is eligible to represent Nigeria through his parents and is managed by Eyeconic Sports, who used to look after Arsenal midfielder Tim Akinola.
This website can exclusively report that the promising striker has put pen to paper on his first professional contract with Derby county, and the deal will keep him at Pride Park until the end of the 2023-2024 season.
The Rams announced the signing of the Irish-Nigerian center forward before the start of their Premier League 2 Division 2 meeting with Norwich City at Loughborough University Stadium on Monday and added that he will join the U21 squad.
Aged nineteen, Oseni replaced Billy Vigar in the 82nd minute for his first appearance for a Derby County team.
He links up with former Manchester United schoolboys Osazee Aghatise and Olamide Ibrahim, and ex-Arsenal youth teamer Bayo Fapetu at the Derby County Academy.
Last season, Oseni made four appearances for Waterford's first team, including three in the First Division.
