Onyeka on target for Brentford B but Beckham's son steals the show with late winner v Wealdstone
Published: February 15, 2023
Super Eagles central midfielder Frank Onyeka helped Brentford B progress to the semifinals of the Middlesex Senior Cup on Valentine's Day.
The former FC Midtjylland man has not played competitively for the first team of The Bees since November 12, 2022 when he helped them secure a shock 2-1 win at Manchester City.
Onyeka was recovering from a hamstring injury that saw him miss seven consecutive matches in the Premier League plus the FA Cup clash versus West Ham United.
He stepped up his recovery by featuring in yesterday's 3-2 win over Olufela Olomola's Wealdstone at Grosvenor Vale.
Brentford were 2-1 up at the break thanks to goals from Tristan Crama and the notable name in the starting lineup Frank Onyeka.
At minute 21, the Nigerian doubled Brentford' advantage with a right-footed shot after combining with Roy Syla.
After Wealdstone's Olomola leveled the score to 2-2 in the 53rd minute, the National League side suffered heartbreak at the death as David Beckham's son Romeo nodded home the winning goal in second half stoppage time.
Onyeka was replaced by Wilcox in the 58th minute in what appeared to be a planned substitution.
