Iheanacho's goal disallowed, Ndidi captains Leicester as Arsenal secure win at King Power Stadium

Arsenal have opened up a five-point gap at the top of the Premier League table with a 1-0 victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Leicester City squad was captained by Wilfred Ndidi, who wore a blue and yellow armband to show the Foxes' support for Ukraine, and the holding midfielder was joined in the starting lineup by Kelechi Iheanacho.

Arsenal started brightly but Leicester City had their own moments too with Iheanacho causing danger with his direct running.

Leandro Trossard thought he had opened the scoring with a curling shot into the top corner in the 27th minute but the potential goal was disallowed because Ben White had his arm on Danny Ward's arm.

At the half-hour mark, Iheanacho had the ball in the back of the net too, dinking the ball over Aaron Ramsdale but he was denied by the offside flag.

Gabriel Martinelli scored what proved to be the game-winning goal when he finished into the bottom corner in the 46th minute and Bukayo Saka could have doubled the advantage in the 55th minute when he tapped home but his Brazilian teammate was in an offside position in the build-up

In a double change by manager Brendan Rodgers, Jamie Vardy and Youri Tielemans came on for Iheanacho and Tetê, while Ndidi was replaced with thirteen minutes to go.
