Flying Eagles team news : Influential midfielder ruled out of quarterfinal clash v Uganda
Published: March 01, 2023Allnigeriasoccer.com has been told that influential Flying Eagles midfielder Daniel Daga will play no part on Thursday evening when the junior national team do battle with Uganda in a quarterfinal clash at the ongoing Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
Daga has not featured for the Flying Eagles since he was substituted in the opening day loss to Senegal due to an injury.
On the eve of the meeting against Uganda, Daga has not yet received medical green light to resume full training with the rest of his Flying Eagles teammates, meaning it is a foregone conclusion that he will not be available for selection against the East Africans.
The 16-year-old has been diagnosed with a knee injury, an ailment that also kept him out of the games against Egypt and Mozambique.
Onuche Ogbelu, Muhammad Aminu and Samson Lawal were the preferred midfielders in Nigeria's starting lineup in their last two matches in Group A, and it remains to be seen whether or not manager Ladan Bosso will stick with the same players who performed admirably against Egypt and Mozambique.
Bosso will not be able to count on the services of central defender Daniel Bameyi, who is suspended after receiving two cautions in the group stage.
