Middlesbrough striker Chuba Akpom has become the first player to score 10 goals in England's top four tiers comprising the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two in 2023.
The Hale End Academy product got on the score sheet as Michael Carrick's team came from behind to register a 3-1 road win over Swansea City on Saturday evening.
Fourteen minutes from time, the referee awarded a penalty to the visitors after a late challenge from Joel Latibeaudiere saw him foul Smith in the 18-yard box.
Akpom made no mistake from the spot and gave Middlesbrough their third goal of the contest, taking his tally to 22 goals in the Championship in the process.
Ten of Akpom's 22 goals were scored in 2023 - the first player to reach double digits for goals in the top four divisions in England so far since the start of the calender year.
The Super Eagles hopeful netted two goals against Reading, another two against Queens Park Rangers, also scored a brace versus Blackpool, plus strikes in wins against Birmingham City, Watford, Sheffield United and Swansea City.
One more goal for Boro would see Akpom equal his highest tally for a single club, 29 he netted for PAOK across two spells.
