Udinese's Nigeria-eligible trio spoil party for record-breaking AC Milan striker Ibrahimovic
Published: March 19, 2023
Nigeria-eligible trio Isaac Success, Destiny Udogie and Kingsley Ehizibue played key roles as Udinese claimed an impressive 3-1 win over AC Milan in a Serie A clash at the Dacia Arena on Saturday night.
The trio dazzled by either providing an assist or getting on the scoresheet as the Bianconeri registered back-to-back wins.
Roberto Pereyra put Udinese ahead in the ninth minute when he beat goalkeeper Mike Maignan with a low shot.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic saw his spot kick saved by the Udinese glovesman in first half stoppage time, but the referee decided that the penalty should be retaken for encroachment.
The Sweden legend, at the second time of asking, wrote his name into the Serie A history books by becoming the oldest player ever to score in the Italian top-flight aged 41 years and 166 days, breaking the record previously held by Alessandro Costacurta (41 years and 25 days).
Udinese immediately retook the lead thanks to another assist by Success to his Portuguese teammate Beto in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
In the 70th minute, Ehizibue tapped in at the back post after he was teed up by Tottenham Hotspur loanee Udogie.
Thanks to their first victory on home soil in 2023, Udinese have climbed to eighth in the provisional standings.
