More drama Tuesday's training session as Super Eagles' CSO 'fights' with Nigerian journalists
Published: March 22, 2023
Apart from the Super Eagles training session being aborted due to lack of power supply and lack of respect shown to the players by the powers that be at the Nigeria Football Federation regarding their transportation to and fro the National Stadium in Abuja, there was more drama during the workout on Tuesday, March 21, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Nigerian journalists were allowed to cover some part of the training session yesterday, but as is the norm, were instructed to leave the stadium just before the start of the tactical session.
When the players were on the workout mats doing stretching exercises, many journalists were videoing and taking pictures.
Then drama unfolded when the unpopular Super Eagles' Chief Security Officer, Francis Adejoh went overboard by forcefully evicting journalists from the training session, much to the dismay of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Abuja chief.
The CSO also ordered the SWAN chief to leave the stadium. Other journalists weighed in on the drama brewing between the two parties and started raising their voices.
Adejoh has claimed that the SWAN chief was inciting journalists against the office of the Chief Security Officer and Super Eagles players.
The Special Adviser to the Minister of Sports warned the CSO not to embarrass the journalists present, adding that it's their duty to report about the national teams.
