Published: March 22, 2023
All the players invited for the back-to-back 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Guinea-Bissau have reported for international duty, the Nigeria Football Federation confirmed on Wednesday afternoon.
Twenty two players were in camp at the close of business on Tuesday following the arrival of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen was unveiled as the brand ambassador for Dettol yesterday, and shortly after putting pen to paper on the endorsement deal, he flew to Abuja to link up with his international teammates.
Despite his late arrival to camp, it is a foregone conclusion that he will make the starting lineup to face Guinea-Bissau on Friday.
Osimhen has been in sensational form this season, scoring twenty five goals in 29 appearances across all competitions for Napoli.
Jose Peseiro now has twenty three players at his disposal for his next training session after Porto left-back Zaidu Sanusi reported for duty on Wednesday.
The Portuguese football tactician started running the rule over the players in camp on Monday.
Nigeria are hoping to make it three victories out of three in 2023 AFCON qualifying when they take om Guinea-Bissau at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Friday, March 24.
