Celtic loanee Urhoghide faces two-game suspension, N1.3m fine in Belgium
Published: April 04, 2023Glasgow Celtic loanee Osaze Urhoghide is facing a possible disciplinary action including a two-game ban following his dismissal in the the second half of KV Oostende's 3-1 defeat to Standard Liege in a Belgian Pro League game on Saturday, April 1.
On the hour mark, the 2019 Nigeria U23 invitee was shown a straight red card for making a late challenge on Philip Zinckernagel.
The public prosecutor's office of the Belgian Football Union (URBSFA) on Monday proposed that Urhoghide should be banned for two matches and one suspended.
The Belgian Football Union also recommended that the central defender should be fined 2,500 euros (approximately N1.3 million in Nigerian currency).
If the prosecution's proposals are refused, the case will be referred to the Disciplinary Committee for Professional Football.
Urhoghide returned to KV Oostende for a second loan spell in July 2022 and has appeared in twenty eight matches across all competitions this season.
KV Oostende wanted to sign him on a permanent deal after impressing the coaching staff in the second half of last season but could not reach an agreement with his parent club Celtic,
Since joining Celtic, Urhoghide has struggled for game time, making only appearance and it came in a dead rubber Europa League clash against Real Betis in December 2021.
