'I've lost my voice' - Leicester's Super Falcons defender ecstatic to score against Liverpool
Published: May 01, 2023
Super Falcons center back Ashleigh Plumptre was delighted to get on the score sheet in Leicester City's 4-0 rout of Liverpool in a Women's Super League match on Saturday afternoon at the King Power Stadium.
The Foxes secured three key points, a win that took them to tenth in the standings as they continue their battle to beat the drop.
Three minutes into the second half, Plumptre opened her goalscoring account for the 2022-2023 season when she rose highest and powered home a header past goalkeeper Laws to make it 3-0.
The former England underage international also did well defensively, helping the home team post their fourth clean sheet in the division.
Plumptre's goal was crucial as Leicester City were losing momentum a little bit before she increased the lead for her team.
"You can tell it's been a bit of a day because I've lost my voice," Plumptre told LCFC TV post-match.
"But we came in with a game plan, and we executed it so well from start to finish. I think we had a little of a dead period in the second half. But you can tell that we planned for the game really well, and we were excellent.
"They coaches were saying that we were doing well defensively, but ultimately, the rest of the team make it a lot easier for us when they are putting pressure on Liverpool a lot higher up the pitch."
Plumptre, 24, has now netted four goals in seventy one professional appearances for Leicester City.
