Bayern Munich could be priced out of a deal for N76b-rated Super Eagles striker
Published: May 03, 2023
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are said to have cooled down their interest in Napoli and Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen due to his hefty price tag.
This is according to the ever-reliable Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany.
Osimhen, who has netted 26 goals in all competitions for Napoli, has been identified by Bayern Munich as a summer target.
The Bavarians lost Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona last summer and relied on Cameroonian forward Eric Choupo-Moting as the center forward all season but the Cameroonian has failed to step into the big shoes left by Lewandowski.
Hence the interest in Osimhen, who has painted Europe with goals for Napoli this season.
Plettenberg wrote on his social media account about Bayern Munich's relaxation of interest in Osimhen:
"The contact with FC Bayern has cooled down because of his price tag. At this stage, a transfer is not affordable for Bayern. The club won't pay more than €100m for a new striker and Napoli is still demanding up to €150m (N76b in Nigerian currency). Bayern is aware of it. Therefore no concrete talks with Bayern at this stage".
The Nigerian striker has also been linked with Manchester United but is not considered a primary target at this stage, with Harry Kane and Randal Kolo Muani on top of the Red Devils' wishlist ahead of Osimhen as we had earlier reported.
Two-time Champions League winners Chelsea and Ligue 1 moneybags PSG are also interested in his services.
