Golden Eaglets player ratings : Odoh solid as always, Lawali lively, Olaleke calm, Michael mixed bag

The Golden Eaglets lost to the Young Atlas Lions of Morocco  1-0  in their second group game of the 2023 U17 Africa Cup of Nations played at the Mohamed Hamlaoui Stadium in Constantine.

Here is allnigeriasoccer.com's rating of  the Nigerian players.

The Starters

Goalkeeper

Richard Odoh: He could do nothing about the goal, and showed good handling whenever he was called upon.  Odoh showed calmness with the ball at his feet with his precise passes. 8.5/10

Defenders

Yahaya Lawali:  Not as lively as he was in the first match but still showed dexterity whenever he bumped forward and ensured the defence wasn't caught in transition. 7/10

Jeremiah Olaleke: The right centre-back was very calm in and out of possession.  With Nigeria having the bulk of the possession, he ensured he won his duels whenever the Moroccan attacked. 6.5/10

Tochukwu Ogboji: He was unfortunate to have conceded his own goal but just like his defensive partner, he was good with the ball and was always there to cover for his defensive partners. 6/10

Emmanuel Michael: The young left-back's performance was a mixed bag.  Should have done better with his set-pieces. 6/10

Midfielders and strikers

Hope Linus: He stood out with his use of the ball again and demonstrated good reading of the game with his well-timed tackles.7/10

Tochukuwu Ogbadibo: Started in the double pivot role with Linus and went on with his job brilliantly though not like the former before he was brought off.6.5/10

Abubakar Abdullahi: Abdullahi was Nigeria's main attacking outlet and most lively forward again but missed the best chances that came the Eaglet's way.6/10

Usman Owoyemi: He didn't offer anything offensively but was hard-working whenever the team had to defend. 6/10

Precious Williams: He was more lively than he was in the first match. The skipper's hold-up play was important when the Eaglets build the attack but didn't attempt a shot on goal himself. 6/10

Favour Daniel: Started with Williams upfront but ended up playing as a left winger.  He got a good chance in the second half where he could have done better, otherwise, he was lively. 6/10

The Substitutes

Anongu Aondoakaa: He was anonymous until a good opportunity came his way but was denied by the brilliant Moroccan goalkeeper. 5.5/10

Quadri Adewale: He had nothing much to do as Nigeria chased the game. 5/10

Light Eke: Also came on and didn't have any influence on the proceeding. 5/10

Charles Agada : Not enough minutes to be rated NA
