Published: May 09, 2023
Super Eagles right-back Tyronne Ebuehi has been named in Whoscored.com's Italian Serie A Team of the Week for his performance in the last round of matches in the division.
Ebuehi shone as Empoli claimed a 2-1 win over William Troost-Ekong's Salernitana, setting up the goals scored by Nicolò Cambiaghi and Francesco Caputo.
He was close to helping goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario to post a cleansheet, only for Krzysztof Piatek to pull one back with five minutes left on the clock.
The Serie A Team of the Week includes players from seven different clubs : Cremonese, Udinese, AC Milan, Sassuolo, Verona, Torino and Empoli, and is decided by the ratings provided by the celebrated football statistics website.
Against Salernitana, Ebuehi was rated 8.0 and his 52 touches of the ball saw him make 32 passes, including two passes which resulted in assists.
The 27-year-old registered a game-high five clearances, made one tackle, gave away one foul and won two aerial duels over the course of the 87 minutes he spent on the pitch.
Of the ten outfield players named in the Team of the Week, only Theo Hernández (8.2) and Johan Vásquez (8.1) rated higher than Ebuehi.
