Man Utd, Tottenham, Inter, Lille, Sevilla, Dortmund scouts watch Gift Orban score hat-trick
Published: May 14, 2023
Several top European clubs have set their eyes on outstanding striker Gift Orban who has been in remarkable form for KAA Gent since joining the Belgian side in the January transfer window.
According to authoritative Flemish newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, Lille posted scouts to run the rule over the Nigerian during Gent's league match with Cercle Brugge on Saturday.
Per the report, talent spotters from Premier League duo Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund were also in attendance at Jan-Breydel-Stadion.
The scouts must have sent back glowing reports about Orban after watching him score a sixteen-minute hat-trick in the second half as Gent demolished Cercle Brugge 4-0.
Since landing at Gent, Orban has mustered nineteen goals, comprising fourteen in the Jupiler Pro League including the playoffs and another five in the knockout rounds of the Europa Conference League.
He is the 7th top scorer in the division despite featuring just 13 times having made his debut in February against KVC Westerlo.
Orban has four years left on his contract with Gent, whom he joined from Norwegian outfit Stabæk.
Nigeria manager Jose Peseiro is keeping tabs on the 20-year-old with a view to potentially handing him a call-up for next month's 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sierra Leone.
