'Skilled in passing' -  Italian pundit likens Eletu to Chelsea legend Mikel and ex-Ajax star Oliseh

Italian football pundit Iacopo Iandiorio has likened AC MIlan wonderkid Victor Eletu to Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel and former Ajax Amsterdam star Sunday Oliseh.

The most important youth tournament in the world,, FIFA U20 World Cup, begins today in Argentina, with Nigeria grouped with the Dominican Republic, Italy and Brazil.

Two-time runners-up Nigeria open their campaign against Dominican Republic at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas, Mendoza on Sunday, May 21, and then face the Italians three days later, before wrapping up group play against Brazil.

Iacopo Iandiorio has highlighted the talented players to watch out for in Argentina, including Manchester City's Perrone (Argentina), Argentinos Juniors' Federico Redondo (Argentina), Chelsea's Andrey Santos (Brazil) and Carney Chukwuemeka (England), Liverpool's Jarell Quansah (England), Lille's Alan Virginius (France) and Santos' Marcos Leonardo (Brazil)

The La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist identified Eletu and Zulte Waregem's Pape Demba Diop (Senegal) as the African players to look out for at the World Cup.

Eletu, a product of Prince Kazeem Eletu Academy, has been hailed for his excellent passing skills, similar to that of Obi Mikel and Sunday Oliseh.

"We meet the Nigerians on the 24th, third in Africa, almost all play in their home country, except for AC Milan player Victor Eletu, 2005, 9 matches in the Youth League, where the Rossoneri reached the final, " Iandiorio wrote on La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"In Milan for 5 years, initially with a scholarship, skilled in passing, even long ones, defensive midfielder or box-to-box in the style of John Obi or Sunday Oliseh: vision, speed, resistance and power."

Eletu linked up with his international teammates in Mendoza on Friday afternoon and it remains to be seen whether he will be named in the starting lineup against Dominican Republic.
