Flying Eagles head coach Ladan Bosso says the players are in high spirits going into their 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup opener against Dominican Republic at the Estadio Mendoza on Sunday.
Nigeria are in Group D of the World Cup alongside five-time world champions Brazil and formidable European opponent Italy, as well as debutant Dominican Republic, and it won't be an easy task for the African powerhouse in the group labeled 'Group of Death'.
Bosso has twenty one players available for selection against Dominican Republic with the arrival of AC Milan wonderkid Victor Eletu on Friday after club commitments kept him away from the training camp in Abuja and Buenos Aires, Argentina
The Flying Eagles boss has explained why he wants to start the tournament with a convincing win against Dominican Republic.
Speaking to NFF TV on Saturday, Bosso stated : ""We've come to the end of the last training session, the last training session before our first match here in Argentina. As you can see the spirit is high.
"We have some Nigerian Federation staff around us and they've been around us since yesterday. It has boosted the morale in camp, we are injury free.
"All we are looking for is to see how we can get our three points convincingly tomorrow against Dominican Republic, and of course that will send a signal to our subsequent opponent."
The Nigeria v Dominican Republic match will be handled by Japanese referee Yusuke Araki as the man in the center, and he will be assisted by compatriots Jun Mihara and Takumi Takagi, with kickoff scheduled for 1900 hours Nigerian time.
