Through their official website, National League club Chesterfield have announced their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season.

The Spireites narrowly missed out on promotion to the Football League after losing on penalties to Notts County at Wembley on May 13.

The National League playoff final at the National Stadium in England was Tim Akinola's last game for the club with Chesterfield confirming that he has returned to his parent club Arsenal.

The 2022 Nigeria U23 invitee totaled 31 appearances in all competitions for Chesterfield and was in action for 1,324 minutes.

Akinola has not featured for Arsenal's development squad since August 30 when he went the distance in a Papa Johns Trophy clash against Cambridge United.

Meanwhile, an opportunity has been given to Jesurun Uchegbulam to extend his stay at Chesterfield with a new contract offered to the striker who played in 33 National League matches over the course of the 2022-2023 season.

Chesterfield have triggered the option in Uchegbulam's contract, tying him to the club until at least the end of next season.
