Report: Middlesbrough likely to cash in on Crystal Palace target Akpom to fund summer signings
Published: May 24, 2023
Championship outfit, Middlesbrough are reportedly ready to offload Arsenal youth product Chubak Akpom this summer after his explosive campaign with the club.
TEAMtalk has claimed that Boro are ready to sell Akpom to raise funds for the upcoming transfer window as Michael Carrick prepares to bring back the club to the Premier League next season.
Akpom was the standout player for Middlesbrough and the Championship which explains why he bagged the EFL Championship Player of the Year, Boro's Player of the Year and Boro Player's Player of the Year awards.
In what was the most productive campaign in his career to date, the 27-year-old bagged 29 goals in all competitions for Middlesbrough which also saw him end the season as the top scorer in the Championship.
Akpom has 12 months left on his current deal which also makes it wiser for Boro to sell him this summer.
The Hale End Academy product has been strongly linked with Crystal Palace who are preparing for the likely departure of Wilfred Zaha.
He has also been linked with Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leicester City and Brentford.
