'Chelsea, Man Utd remain in the race' - Romano provides update on Osimhen & striker's price tag

Italian transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano has insisted that Manchester United and Chelsea remain in the race to sign Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window amid speculation in the media that the Premier League giants may have pulled the plug on the deal.

It was earlier claimed that  incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino was targeting a move for his compatriot Lautaro Martinez this summer instead of pursuing a deal for Osimhen.

Another report suggested that Manchester United were set to pull the plug on a proposed deal for the Nigeria international due to his valuation.

Romano has reiterated that Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag considers Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane the perfect striker for his project but the north London club are doing everything possible to keep the player and are trying to extend his contract.

Napoli would consider selling Osimhen if the right offer comes and their initial asking price is 150 million euros.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: "Victor Osimhen remains on Manchester United list and Chelsea list.

"Both clubs Manchester United and Chelsea want Victor Osimhen but I saw some reports in the last few days mentioning 110m, 115m euros price tag.

"No way. Napoli are not selling the player for 110 million euros. This is not possible, they want way more than this. They start from a potential value of 150m euros so let's see what's going to be the final price tag, but 110m euros is absolutely not enough to sign Victor Osimhem.

"This is why for example this is too expensive for Bayern Munich and they are targeting Randal Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt.

"This is the Osimhen situation. Chelsea remain in the race, Manchester United remain in the race, PSG are very well informed."

Napoli signed Osimhen from Lille for a club record fee of 70 million euros in 2020, and, since then, the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner has scored 56 goals in 99 appearances.
