Bayern's search for a No. 9: Romano names two alternatives to 'expensive' Osimhen
Published: May 27, 2023
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Italian transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that newly crowned Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich will not be pursuing a deal for Victor Osimhen because he is considered too expensive.
As extensively reported in recent weeks, Bayern Munich are in the market for a new number 9 with Osimhen mentioned as a player of interest.
Osimhen was spotted in Berlin on Wednesday morning checking out of the luxury Adlon Kempinski hotel with his girlfriend Stephanie and their daughter, fueling speculation that he was in Germany for transfer talks.
However, Osimhen's potential transfer to Bayern Munich is unlikely as Napoli will not let him go on the cheap with the Italian champions setting an initial asking price of €150 million for the Nigeria international.
Bayern Munich cannot get a deal done for Osimhen and have now turned their attention to other targets.
According to Romano, internally the idea is to sign Eintracht Frankfurt's Randal Kolo Muani who was involved in 40 goals (23 goals, 17 assists) in all competitions in 2022-2023.
Muani is Bayern's primary target given his knowledge of the Bundesliga but the German champions are waiting on Eintracht Frankfurt to decide the final price tag before entering into any negotiations.
Serbia star Dušan Vlahović is another striker being targeted and could be the subject of a bid by Bayern Munich despite Juventus recently stating that the player is untouchable.
