Nigerian-born former Man City defender Onuoha reacts to Harry Kane's Man Utd links
Published: May 28, 2023Manchester United sealed their spot in next season's UEFA Champions League after a 4-1 win against Chelsea on Thursday but manager Erik ten Hag has said that he needs better players to compete in 2023-2024.
Even though Marcus Rashford has scored 30 goals in all competitions this season, it's very obvious that the Red Devils need to bolster their squad with a traditional center forward to score goals regularly.
Although Napoli star Victor Osimhen has been mentioned as an option, Ten Hag's ideal candidate is Harry Kane and it remains to be seen whether they would be able to get him from Tottenham Hotspur.
Kane has a track record having consistently scored goals in the Premier League, 211 in 319 appearances.
Nigerian-born former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha has admitted that he is unsure whether Kane would agree a move to Manchester United, and predicted that the England captain would guarantee goals if the deal were to happen.
"It's interesting to hear that this is the way that it's going to be and Kane being potentially their number one target so how can you get him out? Does Kane want to actually leave, does he want to go and play for another football team?" Onuoha said on ESPN FC.
"I'm still at the point where I wouldn't be surprised if Kane signed a new deal this summer, but if he does go to Manchester United it does feel like a big step in the right direction.
"I don't think necessarily guarantees that they'll be fighting for as such but it definitely gives them more goals."
Manchester United reportedly have doubts about signing Osimhen from Napoli because they feel he has no Premier League experience and could be a one-season wonder.
In the past, players, Romelu Lukaku for example, had great seasons in the Serie A but were not able to translate it to the Premier League.
