'My father is from Nigeria' - Athletic Bilbao-bound Liverpool starlet speaks about his origins

Spanish club Athletic Bilbao are thinking about the future and have set their sights on signing one of the most promising players in the Liverpool academy, Elijah Gift.
Subject to passing a traditional medical, Gift will continue his career with the club based in the Basque Country.
Capable of playing as a winger and center forward, the skillful teenager fits into Athletic Bilbao's transfer policy as he was born in Corella, Navarra, Spain.
Gift was named in Spain's provisional squad for the 2023 European U17 Championship but was not selected in the final squad for the ongoing tournament in Hungary.
Apart from Spain, Gift is also eligible to wear the colours of Nigeria and Cuba at international level.
Speaking about his origins Gift told Marca, via DAZN: "My father is from Nigeria, and one summer he decided to go on vacation to Spain.
"He went to various places, and there he met my mother and they had me. My mother was from Castejón, a small town in Navarra, and I was born there" ,
According to the publication, Gift also revealed that he was of Cuban descent through his mother.
He played futsal at Castejón Soccer School , his mother's hometown, before moving to England at the age of nine.
