Flying Eagles player ratings: Aniagboso Alisson-esque; Daga jewel; Ogwuche, Fredrick magnificent

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria defeated six-time champions Argentina 2-0 to book a place in the quarterfinal of the FIFA U-20 World Cup on Wednesday night.

Goalkeeper

 

Chijioke Aniagboso: It was his Alisson-esque goal kicks that led to both goals and made some crucial saves as Nigeria kept Javier Mascherano's boys quiet.8/10

 

Daniel Bameyi: The skipper was occasionally caught high up the pitch which provided chances for the Argentines to attack the Nigerian goal but still did a good job to keep the host at bay. 7/10

 

Benjamin Fredrick: The right centre-back was reinstated into the starting XI having been rested in the last game. He was solid throughout. 8/10

 

Abel Ogwuche: He was as reliable as ever as Nigeria denied a high-scoring Argentina a chance of making it to the next round. 8/10 

 

Solomon Agbalaka: He was defensively solid as he did well against everything thrown at him. 7/10

 

Midfielders and strikers


Daniel Daga: He was monstrous as ever and to do that without getting cautioned is incredible. The 16-year-old is going places. 9/10 

 

Samson Lawal: He was hardworking as ever as the Flying Eagles gave the Albicelestes no breathing space. 7/10


Tochukwu Nnadi: He replaced Victor Eletu in the midfield and was hardworking throughout as he kept closing down the Argentines. Fantastic performance. 8/10

 

 

Jude Sunday:  He offered no threat offensively before he was replaced by Haliru Sarki. Poor day in the office by his standard. 6/10


Salim Fago Lawal: He was disappointing yet again as he struggled to get involved in the game though no chance came his way.5/10

 

Ibrahim Beji Muhammad: He struggled a bit until his goal which he took calmly and got lively therefrom. 7.5/10

 

The Substitutes

 

Umeh Emmanuel: The forward was brought on when Nigeria needed impetus in attack and he delivered.  He showed great vision to find Muhammad for the opener and was a thorn in the flesh of the Argentines. 7.5/10


Haliru Sarki: It was as if he was going to have a quiet night for the first time in this competition until he got Nigeria's second goal which sealed the victory. 7/10

 

Victor Eletu: The AC Milan midfielder came on for Muhammad and played his part  by providing the assist for he second goal 6/10


John Joshua: He came on at a time when Nigeria was trying to see the game out. Had nothing to do with few minutes left to play.N/A

 

Ibrahim Kehinde:Just like  Joshua, had nothing much to do when he came on. N/A
