Salford City and Stevenage interested in signing Chelsea youth team product Uwakwe
Published: June 04, 2023
Tariq Uwakwe's future at Crewe Alexandra is up in the air with reports linking him with a possible departure from the Railwaymen in the offseason.
Football League World says Stevenage and Salford City have lined up talks with the talented midfielder with a view to a permanent transfer.
Cobham product Uwakwe ended a fifteen-year association with Chelsea in January 2022 after putting pen to paper on an eighteen-month contract with Crewe Alexandra.
Uwakwe is in the final four weeks of his contract at Crewe Alexandra, who are hoping to tie him down to a new deal but face competition for his services in the form of League One new boys Stevenage and League Two side Salford City.
The former Chelsea starlet has some League One experience, having appeared in twenty three matches combined for Accrington Stanley and Crewe Alexandra.
And in the League Two, he has played in 36 games, scoring one goal and registering five assists for the Railwaymen,.
Uwakwe won the domestic treble with Chelsea U18s in the 2017-2018 season and was a member of the England squad that won the Toulon Tournament in 2017.
