Official: FC Cincinnati sign Aghedo until end of the season plus club options
Published: June 07, 2023American-born defender of Nigerian descent London Aghedo is now officially a player of FC Cincinnati, with the Major League Soccer club confirming via their official website on Wednesday that the defender has signed a deal that will keep him at the Orange and Blue until at least the end of the 2023 season.
FC Cincinnati have club options for three years: 2024, 2025 and 2026.
With the 80th overall pick, FC Cincinnati selected Aghedo from Air Force Men's Soccer during the 2023 MLS SuperDraft.
As a freshman, Aghedo appeared in eighteen matches for Air Force Men's Soccer and was on target against Houston Baptist in the WAC Tournament, logging 1,566 minutes.
Aghedo registered five assists in seventeen starts as a junior and clocked a team-high 1,452 minutes on the pitch .
He was named Defensive Player of the Year in his senior season, starting every match in 2022, and anchoring the defence.
Overall, the 23-year-old made 58 appearances in four years at Air Force Academy, registering six goals and six assists.
The California native has already started training with his new teammates at FC Cincinnati, including Joey Akpunonu and ex-Flying Eagles midfielder Obinna Nwobodo.
