Published: June 08, 2023Promising Nigerian midfielder Nelson Okeke has officially comitted his future to Sparta Prague by signing a new deal, the Czech Republic First League champions announced on Thursday, June 8.
The financial terms and length of the new deal signed by the 21-year-old have not been disclosed.
Okeke arrived at Sparta Prague at the back end of 2018 and was offered a contract following a successful trial.
In the fall of 2020, he signed a professional contract with the Maroons and was promoted to their reserve team on a permanent basis.
Although Okeke has yet to make his senior debut for Sparta Prague, he has been invited to train with the first team on countless occasions.
The central midfielder was a non-playing substitute in back-to-back UEFA Champions League qualifiers against Monaco in August 2021.
He struggled with injuries in the first part of the 2022-2023 season, limiting his appearances to eight over the course of the campaign.
Okeke was one of the architects of the winning streak, which helped Sparta Prague reserve team avoid relegation from the
Czech National Football League - second tier of Czech football.
