Gent goal machine Gift Orban is most valuable player in Belgium, Boniface joint-seventh
Published: June 09, 2023
Transfermarkt on Friday, June 9 updated the market value of players in the Jupiler Pro League.
KAA Gent striker Gift Orban now has the honour of being considered the most valuable player in the whole of Belgium, with a market value of 20 million euros (approximately N10 billion in Nigerian currency).
Orban's market value has been upgraded to a career-high due to his spectacular form for Gent in the recently concluded season.
To calculate the market value of players, Transfermarkt factors in the length of contract remaining with the club, age and performances for club and country in different competitions.
Orban's numbers and achievements since landing at Gent from Stabæk are eye-catching.
The 20-year-old tallied 20 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions for The Buffalos including three hat-tricks.
On March 15, 2023, he wrote his name in the record books by scoring the quickest hat-trick in the history of UEFA club competition during Gent's UEFA Europa Conference League round of 16 second leg tie against İstanbul Başakşehir.
Completing the top five most valuable players in Belgium are Arthur Vermeeren (Antwerp), Mike Trésor (Genk), Noa Lang (Club Brugge) and Andreas Skov Olsen (Club Brugge), who are rated at €17m, €15m, €15m and €14m respectively.
Royale Union Saint-Gilloise striker Victor Boniface is joint-seventh in the ranking of most valuable players in Belgium with a valuation of twelve million euros, along with Genk's Joseph Paintsil.
His market valued has doubled as he was rated at six million euros on March 22, 2023.
Boniface also had an excellent season, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists in 55 games combined for Union SG and Bodo/Glimt.
