Torino join Glasgow Rangers in race for Super Eagles striker
Published: June 18, 2023
Cyriel Dessers could remain in the Italian Serie A amid reports linking him with Scottish Premiership giants Glasgow Rangers.
The future of the Super Eagles striker has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks following Cremonese's relegation to the second tier of Italian football.
According to the print edition of Turn-based sports daily Tuttosport, via CalcioCremonese, Dessers who seemed destined to be heading to Rangers, has a new suitor in the form of Torino.
Per the report, it is emphasized that Cremonese are demanding a transfer fee of seven million euros for Dessers but the fee could be lowered by Torino using two players as a makeweight in the deal to sign the Nigeria international.
Cremonese are interested in Senegal forward Demba Seck and Lithuania midfielder Gvidas Gineitis.
Dessers netted ten goals and registered three assists in thirty two appearances across all competitions last season, with seven of those goals coming in the colours of Cremonese, whom he joined from Racing Genk in the summer of 2022 for a club-record fee of €6.5 million.
The 28-year-old lists KSC Lokeren , NAC Breda, Utrecht, Heracles and Feyenoord as his previous clubs.
Dessers has a contract with Cremonese until the end of the 2026-2027 season.
