Liverpool interested in signing 18yo Danish-Nigerian defender
Published: June 19, 2023
Premier League giants Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Denmark underage international of Nigerian descent Patrick Dorgu.
According to Calciomercato, Liverpool are prepared to make a move for Dorgu who plays for the youth team of Lecce.
The Reds have extensively scouted the Danish-Nigerian left-back ahead of possible move in the summer transfer window.
Dorgu was a key member of the Lecce squad that won the Primavera League in 2022-2023, scoring four goals in thirty three appearances in the regular season, before going the distance against Fiorentina in the playoffs final.
Although he has yet to make his professional debut for Lecce, he has been invited to train with the first team a few times.
Dorgu is a product of the famous FC Nordsjaelland academy that produced Tochi Chukwuani, Emeka Nnamani and the new poster boy of Ghanaian football Mohammed Kudus, who made a splash at the 2022 World Cup.
In the past, he has been linked with moves to Troyes, one of the clubs owned by the City Football Group, as well as Racing Genk in Belgium.
Dorgu is provisionally cap-tied to Denmark after featuring in a European U19 Championship qualifier in 2022.
