Chelsea table offer to sign Arsenal's history-making midfielder of Nigerian descent
Published: June 25, 2023Chelsea have reportedly tabled an offer to England U17 international of Nigerian descent, Ethan Nwaneri.
According to Football. London,, making reference to transfer reporter Felix Johnston, Chelsea want to add the highly-rated attacking midfielder to their ranks having shown his exceptional talent in the colours of Arsenal.
Nwaneri has been a standout player at the Hale End Academy and he was rewarded for his efforts by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta when he came on as a late second-half substitute in the Gunners' 3-0 win over Brentford last season at the Gtech Community Stadium.
And in doing so, the Anglo-Nigerian wonderkid became the youngest player to feature in the English top-flight at the age of 15 years and 181 days.
The 16-year-old midfielder is currently in the last week of his schoolboy contract with the Gunners and the club is trying everything possible to convince him to sign a scholarship deal that will become a professional contract when he turns 17 next year.
It is not uncommon for players to move from Arsenal to Chelsea and vice-versa with Kai Havertz being the latest proof of that and Nwaneri could also join the list of players to have switched allegiance from Arsenal to Chelsea
Nwaneri is also being monitored by Manchester United and Manchester City.
