Done deals: Chelsea complete signings of two attack-minded players
Published: July 01, 2023Through their official website, English Premier League club Chelsea have announced the signings of two talented youngsters.
England underage international Alex Matos has joined the Blues from Norwich City, for whom he made appearances in the U18 Premier League, Premier League 2 and FA Youth Cup last season.
Capable of playing in midfield and attack, Matos was a schoolboy at Luton Town before he was snapped up by the Canaries in 2016.
The 18-year-old mustered nine goals and seven assists in 39 appearances in the U18 Premier League as a Norwich City player.
Portugal U21 international Diego Moreira is also a new Chelsea signing, joining from Portuguese Primeira Liga giants Benfica on undisclosed terms.
Moreira comes from a footballing family - his father Almami was a Guinea-Bissau international.
A winger by trade, Moreira represented Standard Liege just as his father, before he was snapped up by Benfica in 2020.
The 18-year-old was a key member of the Benfica squad that won the 2022 UEFA Youth League, starring in the showpiece with two assists in a 6-0 rout of Salzburg.
