Man Utd academy product Odubeko training at VVV Venlo after West Ham exit
Published: July 05, 2023
Manchester United youth product Mipo Odubeko is training with Dutch Eerste Divisie side VVV Venlo with a view to a potential transfer after his departure from West Ham United at the end of last month.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported twenty days ago that the Republic of Ireland underage international of Nigerian descent could be moving abroad this summer, with French and Dutch clubs genuinely interested in signing the 20-year-old.
The official website of VVV Venlo confirmed this week that Odubeko has been training with the club since Monday, July 3, and will be aiming to show manager Rick Kruys what he can do during his trial period.
The Irish-Nigerian striker scored goals for fun as a youth team player for Manchester United and West Ham United.
Odubeko enjoyed loan spells at Huddersfield Town, Doncaster Rovers and Port Vale during his four-year association with the Hammers, making 49 appearances combined for the Football League clubs and scoring six goals.
He departed the Hammers without making his Premier League debut but represented the Londoners twice in the FA Cup in the 2020-2021 season.
Nigerian players past and present such as Tijani Babangida, Alex Emenike, Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Nwakali, Uche Nwofor, Ajah Ogechukwu and Michael Uchebo have represented VVV Venlo in the past.
