Done deal: Tottenham Hotspur youth product Bennetts joins SV Wehen Wiesbaden
Published: July 07, 2023With a statement on their official website, newly promoted German 2.Bundesliga outfit SV Wehen Wiesbaden have announced the signing of onetime Nigeria Football Federation target Keanan Bennetts on a free transfer.
The Red and Blacks have not provided any information about the length and financial terms of the deal.
A winger by trade, Bennetts is a product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy and was a player of interest to former Flying Eagles coach Paul Aigbogun before the 2019 Fifa U20 World Cup in Poland.
The 24-year-old helped SV Darmstadt 98 secure promotion to the German topflight, making fifteen appearances in the 2.Bundesliga over the course of the last campaign.
After leaving Tottenham Hotspur in 2018, Bennetts switched to Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he made five appearances in the Bundesliga and played one game in the DFB Pokal.
Commenting on his transfer to SV Wehen Wiesbaden, Bennetts told the club's official website: "The discussions with Paul Fernie and Markus Kauczinski convinced me that moving to SVWW with its very family environment is the right next step for me.
"I'm looking forward to my new team and would like to contribute to the club's success with my qualities."
For the upcoming season, Bennetts will play with the number 11 at the back of his SV Wehen Wiesbaden jersey.
He has caps for Germany U15s as well as England's U16, U17 and U19 national teams.
