Osimhen's contract renewal talks: No agreement yet between Napoli and Super Eagles striker
Published: July 09, 2023
It has been revealed that the discussion of a new contract between Napoli and their star striker Victor Osimhen is at a stalemate as parties are yet to agree on the terms of the new contract.
As earlier reported, the Italian Serie A Champion had proposed to extend the striker's contract to 2027, increase his salary from 4.5 million to 7 million euros and insert a release clause between 100 to 120 million euros into the new contract.
According to Corriere Dello Sport via Napolipiu Osimhen who is being represented by Roberto Calenda could not reach an agreement with Aurelio De Laurentiis over the proposed terms as he feels he deserves more than he is being offered.
The Partenopei are determined to keep hold of their most prized asset and have placed a hefty asking price on him to ward off suitors while negotiating a new contract with him.
The 24-year-old scored 31 goals in all competitions last season, thereby establishing himself as one of the most prolific strikers in Europe.
The exploits of the former Lille forward have attracted PSG who are lining him up as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe who could leave for Real Madrid this summer.
He has also been strongly liked with Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester United but his asking price is deemed excessive.
