Augsburg make decision on the future of 2017 Super Eagles invitee
Published: July 18, 2023
2017 Super Eagles invitee and Augsburg winger Noah Sarenren Bazee is set to move on to pastures new.
According to German newspaper Augsburger Allgemeine via Süddeutsche Zeitung, Augsburg’s sports director Stefan Reuter has stated that Bazee's contract will not be renewed.
Bazee joined Augsburg on a five-year deal in the summer of 2019 and has entered the final year of his contract with the WWK Arena outfit
The 26-year-old winger has been in and out of Augsburg's first team due to recurrent injuries, logging 32 appearances across four seasons with only five games started.
Bazee wore the jerseys of SSV Südwinsen, TuS Celle FC, JFC Allertal and TSV Havelse and Hannover 96 before he was snapped up by Augsburg.
Former Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr had been searching for a winger to provide cover for his then star player, Victor Moses before the 2018 World Cup and handed a call-up to Bazee for an international friendly against Senegal in London.
An injury prevented him from making his debut though he traveled to the English capital to train with the Super Eagles squad.
Meanwhile, another player that was targeted by Rohr in the shape of Felix Uduokhai has made a decision about his future.
The central defender has chosen not to extend his contract at Augsburg, which expires at the end of the 2023-2024 season.
