'I'm currently a Fenerbahce player' - Super Eagles RB Osayi-Samuel plays down transfer links
Published: July 25, 2023
Super Eagles right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel has refused to comment on reports linking him away from Turkish club Fenerbahce.
Osayi- Samuel has been linked with moves to Scottish giants Rangers, French outfit Troyes and the English duo of Bournemouth and Leeds United.
The energetic right-back found it difficult to nail a place in Fenerbahce's starting XI last season as he had to battle with Ferdi Kadioglu
He could only muster 23 appearances in the Turkish Süper Lig last season with 10 being as a starter and the other 13 as a substitute which is a stark contrast to his statistics in the previous season when he started 27 league games.
Due to his struggles with game time, he has attracted interest from other clubs who could make do with his services.
The 25-year-old while on media duties in Fenerbahce's pre-match interview before their game against Moldovan club Zimbru Chisinau on Wednesday left no clue regarding his future.
In quotes relayed by Turkish TV channel NTV, he said: "I am currently a Fenerbahçe player. I don't listen to the gossip. My job is to focus on where I am. I am completely focused on Fenerbahçe.
"I believe in our coach. It makes me feel like he believes in me too. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's game."
The 4-cap Nigeria International joined the Yellow Canaries in January 2021 and has made 100 appearances across all competitions, registering 3 goals and seven assists.
