'Another difficult game' - History-maker Lauren James on round of 16 tie v Super Falcons

Chelsea forward Lauren James etched her name into the history books by becoming the first England player to be directly involved in at least five goals in a game at a Men's or Women's World Cup as the European champions thrashed China PR 6-1 to top Group D of the 2023 Fifa Women's World Cup.

James, the younger sister of Chelsea first teamer Reece James, set up the first two goals and made it 3-0 four minutes before halftime.

The 21-year-old netted a spectacular goal in the 65th minute to increase the lead and notched her sixth goal involvement of the tournament in the 77th minute when she teed up Chloe Kell for England's fifth.

England topping their group means they will face the Super Falcons in a round of 16 tie at Lang Park in Brisbane on Monday morning.

Speaking post-match, James insisted that the upcoming clash against Nigeria will be a difficult game.

The England number 7 told ITV Sport, via Sky Sports: "Every team has been tough. Even watching the other games, teams are catching up with each other. That [against Nigeria] will be another difficult game."

Meanwhile, the Super Falcons players were granted a day off on Tuesday and went sightseeing, before starting their preparations for the showdown against England.
