Confirmed: Lagos-born striker Mbakogu joins Serie C club FC Legnago Salus
Published: August 08, 2023Through official channels, Italian Serie C club FC Legnago Salus have confirmed the signing of Lagos-born attacker Jerry Mbakogu.
FC Legnago Salus saw off competition from other lower division teams in Italy to sign the Nigerian on a one-year contract, until the end of the 2023-2024 season.
Mbakogu arrived in Italy at a very young age, spending the formative years of his career with Scorzè Peseggia, Padova and Palermo.
His other clubs include Palermo, Juve Stabia, Carpi, Krylia Sovetov, Osijek, Cosenza, Apollon Smyrnis, Gubbio and US Triestina Calcio 1918.
He is a very experienced player in Italian football, with 253 appearances in domestic competitions, including twenty four in the Serie A, and has also turned out for clubs in Russia, Croatia and Greece.
Mbakogu is also in the possession of an Italian passport having lived in Italy for two decades,
FC Legnago Salus will be featuring in the Serie C in the 2023-2024 after their promotion from the Serie D at the end of last season.
The 30-year-old Mbakogu will be hoping to make his competitive debut for his new employer when they take on Arzignano Valchiampo in their Serie C opener on September 2.
