Ex-Flying Eagles striker sets new Ligue 1 record after brace on debut for Montpellier

By scoring a second half brace, Akor Adams set a new Ligue 1 record on his competitive debut for Monpellier in their 2-2 draw against Le Havre at the Stade de la Mosson-Mondial 98 on Sunday afternoon.

According to the statisticians at OPTA, there was only a minute and 42 seconds between Akor Adams' 2 goals - the fastest double for a player on his debut in Ligue 1 since OPTA started analyzing the competition in 2006-2007.

Gautier Lloris gave Le Havre the lead in the 5th minute, and it was Adams that restored parity for the home side in the 58th minute when his header found the back of the net from Teji Savanier's cross.

Less than two minutes later, the former Flying Eagles striker doubled his side's lead with an unstoppable shot having received a through pass from Kiki Kouyate

He was replaced in the 77th minute by Chelsea-linked strike Elye Wahi.

The 60th-minute goal from Adams was not enough to secure the maximum points for the one-time Ligue 1 champions as Samuel Grandsir drew level for Le Havre in the 90th minute.

The Nigerian striker scored from his 2 shots on target in the game, made 21 touches and also contributed his quota defensively, winning two of his 4 ground duels and all of his aerial duels

Montpellier's next game comes up on August 19 against Lyon at the Groupama Stadium, the latter's home ground.
