Confirmed: Portsmouth win the race for the signature of Chelsea midfielder Anjorin
Published: August 31, 2023
Through a statement on their official website, Portsmouth have announced the signing of Chelsea midfielder of Nigeria descent Faustino Anjorin on a season-long loan deal.
The English League One side beat several interested clubs across Europe to the signing of the talented midfielder.
Anjorin joins Kepa Arrizabalaga, Romelu Lukaku, Ângelo, Hakim Ziyech, Lewis Hall, David Dantro Fofana, Gabriel Solinina and Andrey Santos in leaving Stamford Bridge on a temporary basis this summer.
Having struggled to break into the first team, the former England youth international has been on three loan spells before his move to Portsmouth.
He spent his first loan spell with Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow but didn't get enough minutes due to injuries and was able to register 9 appearances.
The Cobham product has had two different loan spells at Huddersfield, where he recorded 17 appearances, registering four goal contributions.
Anjorin's growth has been hindered by injuries and will have to stay injury-free to get enough minutes in his loan spell with Portsmouth.
